Case Study - Hyde Leisure Centre
Project: Hyde Leisure Centre Client: Pulse Fitness
Value: £411,000
Duration: 30 weeks
Person responsible for delivering project - Mike Scholes, Contracts Manager
Scope Detail
The work involved building an extension to the existing mezzanine level to form new changing facilities, as well as extending the existing gym area to form a new dance studio and to extend the size of the existing gymnasium. The combined size of the extensions was 120 square meters. The existing changing area for the swimming pool was also refurbished, and a new public entrance was formed which included a new external lobby area with offices adjacent to the internal reception. Medlock’s own in-house joinery workshop designed and manufactured hardwood door sets, glazed screens, a public bar and a reception counter.
As main contractors, Medlock utilised their supply chain of preferred contractors for the following work, sending tender packages to a minimum of three companies per work category:
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Tiling
- Steelwork
- Roofing
All subcontractors had to provide copies of relevant industry accreditations, method statements and risk assessments before entering site. These were monitored through the duration of the project to ensure they remained up-to-date and that Health & Safety standards were met.
